Von “O” bis “O“ von “Oh Carolina” bis “Oh Carolina”, so spannt sich der Reigen dieser großartigen 4-CD-Kollektion.
Von der Kollektion der Folkes Brothers bis zur Version von Shaggy umspannt diese Box die Jahre 1958 bis 1993. Im letzten Jahr ist diese Kompilation dann auch erschienen.

Auf MANGO, einer Unterabteilung des Labels ISLAND, ist diese herrliche Zusammenstellung erschienen.
Das ist ein wirklich umfassender Überblick über die Entwicklung der Musik Jamaicas.
Man wird hier viele Namen entdecken, die man noch nie gehört hat, aber die Entwicklung der Musikstile Ska, Rocksteady , Reggae, Dub, Dancehall, Toasting, Ragga, die hier dokumentiert ist, birgt eben nicht nur die großen Namen.
Das Booklet ist auch ein wahrer Schmaus. Zu jedem Stück werden hier Informationen geboten.
Dazu Abbildungen originaler Cover, viele Fotos runden diese massiven Informationen ab.

Wenngleich diese Zusammenstellung wohl nur einen kleinen Ausschnitt des mächtigen Plattenaufkommens der jamaikanischen Musik darstellt, ist dieser Überblick hier durchaus gelungen.

Wer das Glück hat, sich noch ein Exemplar zu schnappen, sollte dieses tun, die Musik macht echt Spaß!
